Ria Formosa
Welcome to the Ria Formosa!
Where does the name Formosa Gourmet come from? Formosa comes from Ria Formosa, which is a national park in the Algarve in southern Portugal.
Ria Formosa is a 60-kilometer labyrinth of canals, islands, wetlands and sandy beaches along the Algarve coast. Fishing has always been important to the locals and there is a rich variety of fish and shellfish.
The majority of Formosa Gourmet's products, including the cured tuna, sardines and salt are coming from the area around the Ria Formosa. In addition, Formosa translated as "beautiful", which we think represents both Portugal and the Portuguese mentality. A perfect name for a Portuguese brand from the Algarve!
